Hi! some words about Loulé Rural…
I am Joana Almeida
I'm a local guide, gardener and avid birdwatcher based in Loulé. My passion for nature was instilled in me by my parents, biologists by profession.
I became an expert on the local environment through practical experience and personal contacts. My knowledge stems from years of living in the area and contact with the community. With an adventurous spirit, for a while I lived in a van, exploring the world around me.
Recently, I launched the Loulé Rural project to showcase the beauty and natural wealth of Loulé's countryside.
What is Loulé Rural?
The idea for Loulé Rural came about when I realized the many species that live in the Cadoiço valley and noticed that no one was using this area for ecotourism. Over the last few years, I've got to know the valley and its residents intimately, and I'm the perfect host to make any visitor feel at home in this enchanting landscape.
Much of Loulé's territory lies in the so-called Barrocal Algarvio. The abundance of water allowed for agricultural development and the growth of the city of Loulé, which is now one of the Algarve's main urban centers. But it only takes a few steps out of town to enter a different world.
